Meowzel Tov & Shalom Cat Ornaments
Meowzel Tov & Shalom Cat Ornaments
Handcrafted ornament decoration made from painted wood. Comes with hanging hook. Measures 2.5" round.
Here is the story behind these ornaments:
As many of us did during quarantine, we came up with things to do to entertain ourselves that would distract us from the current situation. My mom decided since her cats (Phoebe in orange and Zoe the calico) turned 13, they should each have a Bat Mitzvah. My kids were all over this idea. These photos are their portraits from their B'nai Mitzvah. To clarify:
No, they didn’t read from the Torah. Although we did make an Ark out of a styrofoam cooler and a pretend Torah out of paper towels.
Yes, we did a hora. But, no, they weren’t put up on chairs. Truth be told, the disappeared after the portraits and never were to be seen for the duration of the B'nai Mitzvah. They actually did not stay present for any part of their calling to the Torah, nor celebration following.
Yes, we had cake.
Phoebe is the kind of cat that wears a yarmulke and tallit proud.
Zoe is, well, the kind of cat that despite her less than 8 pound frame, glares at you and I’m pretty sure would try to kill me in my sleep. Rest In Peace Zoe. She passed away in 2022, only one year following her Jewish feline rite of passage.
You can purchase these individually or as a set. If you knew Zoe, you would understand that she was probably thinking this pretty much all the time.
